The breed of American Quarter and Paint Horse (multicolour character) was started in XVII century in Virginia. The name Quarter Horse comes from races organised by farmers over a distance of a quarter
of a mile.

It is a middle-sized animal (152 to 163 cm), of a harmonious build, big eyes and a calm look in them.
They are very friendly to people and like to co-operate with them.

Their pleasant temperament and spectacular trot/gait are responsible for the fact that, for some time now, Quarters and Paints have been used in Western Style riding. During Western style shows and competitions, Reining and what is known as the ‘Sliding Stop’ are the most spectacular categories: the horse stops immediately and their special horseshoes allow them to slide.

They are well-muscled, fast and agile, and have ‘cow-sense’ – this is why they are perfect for working with cattle, which makes the rider’s job easier.
